MY CURRENT PROJECT - "In the Garden" . Transformation of a tired under-utilised urban garden. My design links the outdoor space with the main living areas in the house and provides a stylish seating and dining space. I am creating an immersive garden, where the family can relax within a light airy canopy of trees and low maintenance planting".

Kate B, Exeter Emma has designed a wonderful new garden for us, such a brilliant transformation. I feel Emma really listened carefully to our brief and took on board how we use the garden and which plants and styles we like. She combines artistic creativity with an awesome knowledge of plants and horticulture. It was great fun working with Emma –and I’ve learnt so much!
Tori M, Exeter "Working with Emma to design and create our garden has been a really positive experience. Emma is incredibly knowledgeable and creative, and brings a huge amount of energy and enthusiasm to her work. She has taken time to listen to what we want and has offered a huge amount of advice and guidance to help us throughout the design process. She has given, and continues to give, over and above what we would expect from a garden designer and we are really thrilled with the results so far! We would not hesitate to recommend Emma to anyone thinking of using a garden designer."
Cecilia M, Exeter "When I approached Emma to design our back garden, I didn't know what to expect. I had never done anything like this before. Emma was very professional. She guided me through the process of thinking about what we, as a family, wanted from the garden and helped us create a new vision for a space that was overgrown, crowded and underused. Emma provided valuable advice about who could help us realise the concept garden we co-created. She also developed a mood board and planting plans which she has started planting - and we can already see the transformation. The final outcome has been the development of a garden that is very spacious and most importantly, one we all love and enjoy every day. We could not have done this without Emma's expert knowledge and advice. Thank you Emma!"
Charlotte C, Exeter “Emma did an amazing job in our little garden, working incredibly efficiently to create a really sleek and pretty space. Emma was so easy to work with, went out of her way to find good value materials and interpreted what I wanted perfectly."
Danny R, Exeter "Emma brings ideas, enthusiasm and vision. She has helped us to completely transform our back garden which we now love. Her knowledge of plants is exceptional and she always has the right plant in mind for the right place. She is very diligent and takes time to understand our goals. Very reasonably priced. Thoroughly recommended”
Katie M, Exeter "Emma came highly recommended by a friend, and rightly so. We had recently moved to a house with a big unruly garden. We had some vague ideas of what we wanted and Emma worked with us to suggest & implement planting schemes, to move plants around and to add little touches that make all the difference. She has great vision and ideas, but also takes into account what we want. She is also very hard working. As a result she has transformed our garden. I would not hesitate to recommend Emma."

Choosing plants that will be right for the site is crucial - the right plants in the right place will thrive and delight!

I am equally inspired by contemporary and traditional landscaping and planting styles.

The way we design, plant, and care for our gardens can make a big difference to wildlife. We have made such huge environmental impacts on the planet - taking care to create diverse habitats in our gardens is one way to redress the balance.
Creating successful colour and texture combinations and including year-round seasonal interest and wildlife value is an intrinsic part of the way I plan planting.
Many factors are considered in a professional planting plan and this multifaceted process is the key to a beautiful result.
Gardens and plants have delighted me and awakened my senses since childhood. My inspiration comes from the landscapes and hedgerows of the Westcountry, as well as the many gardens I have visited in the UK and abroad. Before embarking on a self-employed career in Horticulture, l worked in Environmental Education (receiving an international award for my work). Prior to that I worked in Planning Consultancy and as a Trainer and Team Leader in the UK Water Industry. I originally gained a degree in Geography (BA Hons) and studied A-levels in Art, Economics and Geography. I love to spend time with my two sons outdoors, enjoying all that our beautiful county has to offer - especially the sea!
